After nearly 32 years of leadership and innovation, Alan Perkins, one of the original co-founders of SilverDisc, is stepping down from his role at Qoob to explore new opportunities.

Alan, who was the former Managing Director of Qoob until he passed the baton on to Matthew Rigby-White earlier on this year, will leave the business at the end of 2024.

His incredible journey has left an indelible mark on both the company he built and its future as part of Qoob. Today, we celebrate his lasting contributions while looking forward to an exciting future for the business.

From SilverDisc to Qoob: A Legacy of Innovation

Founded in 1993, SilverDisc quickly became a pioneer in digital marketing under Alan's leadership. Following its acquisition by Qoob in 2022, SilverDisc’s legacy continues as part of the broader Qoob brand, with its commitment to innovation and quality still at the core of what we do today.

Originally a multimedia software company developing on Compact Discs - “silver discs” - SilverDisc evolved into a digital marketing powerhouse, collaborating with prominent clients like HarperCollins and earning industry accolades such as the BIMA Gold Medal.

Over more than 3 decades, Alan Perkins has been a true pioneer in the digital marketing industry, particularly in the field of search engine technology. His groundbreaking work includes creating two global search engine patents in 1999, which played a pivotal role in shaping the future of SEO.

Alan’s expertise didn’t stop there – he went on to contribute to Google’s Quality Guidelines working directly with Matt Cutts, one of Google’s leading engineers.

His deep understanding of search algorithms and digital marketing helped lay the foundation for what is now considered best practice in SEO, and these contributions remain integral to Qoob’s continued success in driving impactful digital marketing strategies for its clients.

Today, that same spirit of innovation lives on within Qoob, where we continue to offer our expertise across digital strategy and delivery, specialising in working with Direct-To-Consumer (DTC) and Ecommerce brands.

Reflecting on SilverDisc’s 30th anniversary in 2023, Alan remarked:

“Resilience, quality, and integrity have always been central to our business, our people, and our clients. Long may it continue – SilverDisc and its successors!”

Alan’s dedication to these values has ensured that SilverDisc – and now Qoob – continues to thrive. His adaptability and forward-thinking approach allowed the company to grow organically, expanding services and nurturing client relationships that have stood the test of time.

The Future with Qoob: Building on a Strong Foundation

Alan’s influence is woven deeply into Qoob’s culture, and the values of Collaboration, Empowerment, and Accountability that he championed will continue to guide the team moving forward.

While Alan’s departure is significant, Qoob is in capable hands under the leadership of Managing Director Matthew Rigby-White. Reflecting on Alan’s legacy, Matthew noted:

“Alan’s contributions over the past 3 decades have shaped the path we walk today. His impact is felt across the business, and we are excited to continue building on the strong foundations he laid.

It has been a privilege to work alongside Alan over the past few years. We wish Alan the very best over the next couple of years, as he embarks on new challenges and opportunities, and then on into a happy retirement.

The team Alan helped cultivate remains the heart of Qoob’s success, including long-standing team members, like his son, Harry Perkins, who continues to play an active role in the business. Together, we will ensure that Alan’s legacy thrives within the dynamic, forward-thinking environment of Qoob.”

Looking Ahead with Gratitude and Optimism

Alan’s departure marks the end of an era, but the story of SilverDisc continues through Qoob as part of its deep heritage. The focus on resilience, quality, and integrity that Alan instilled will remain a cornerstone of our business, guiding us as we move forward. In Alan’s own words:

“It’s been an incredible 32-year journey, filled with wonderful memories, great friends, and extraordinary achievements. I’m grateful to have worked alongside such talented individuals, and I’m excited for what the future holds, both for me and for Qoob.”

Carrying the Legacy Forward with Qoob

As we honour Alan’s incredible journey, we’re also excited about the future of Qoob. This transition is not an end, but a continuation of the legacy shaped by innovation, collaboration, and a shared commitment to helping our clients achieve their goals.

Though Alan embarks on new ventures, his influence will continue to be felt across Qoob. The company he helped build will remain focused on excellence, driven by a talented team committed to ensuring Qoob continues to lead in the digital marketing space, always moving forward with the same passion and purpose.
